I don't know what it is about the warmer months, but for some reason life seems to go as fast as a race car overtaking the car next to them. During the winter, life seems to putter along like an old Ford Model T. Because it is summer, I feel like all I am doing is running from one project to another. As a result, I am late on posting about how our Ladies Only Offshore trip went!

The trip itself was great! Good company and lots of laughs, the fishing on the other hand was very lacking. During the warmer months, fishing can get tricky. I know we always spend a lot of our time looking for temperatures breaks, sargassum and active ledges. Fish have a tendency to move and are always on the hunt for food, so they are never in the same place twice.
We trolled most of the morning without a bite, the mate did think we had a sailfish on the line first thing in the morning but I never saw anything. I will tell you they have far better eyesight about seeing the fish and knowing what is on the line. I do not. One day I hope to get there.
As the day went on, we continued to laugh and enjoy the thrill of the hunt. There is something incredibly empowering about a group of women out on the open water, taking on the challenges of the sea together. We shared stories, gave each other tips, and supported one another through the slow fishing moments. The camaraderie was truly the highlight of the trip.
Despite the lack of fish, the experience was valuable. We learned more about reading the water and understanding the behavior of the fish we were after. Each trip is a chance to grow and improve, and this one was no different. It’s about the journey and the learning process, not just the catch.
As the sun began to set, we headed back to the dock, tired but happy. The day had not gone as we had hoped in terms of fishing, but the bonds we strengthened and the memories we made were more than worth it. Here’s to many more Ladies Only trips in the future, with the hope that next time, the fish will be more cooperative!
In the end, the trip was a reminder that fishing, much like life, isn't always about the results. It's about the experience, the lessons learned, and the people you share it with.
Stay tuned as there will be another trip in October! I will have more details shortly.
