Crazy to think that Robert and I have been friends for 20 years. We’ve been there for each other when we were just really starting our careers, figuring out things, navigating life and the tough times of loss.

Never would I have thought our friendship would find us outside in the cold before dawn, watching for ducks, shooting at ducks and planning new adventures focused on the goal of more ducks 🦆. I can’t wait to see where the next season will take us.

I am so thankful for opportunities that present themselves and for putting aside my fear of doing things alone. I had an awesome time on my first waterfowl hunt out in eastern North Carolina! I also got to experience it all from a scissor rig, which was a pretty cool.

I am also thankful for making new friends and connections on all of my latest adventures. Big thanks to @capt_ryan_triplebguideservice for showing me the ropes and making the day memorable. I don’t know if it is just something that comes with age or with confidence but my worry about meeting strangers and putting myself out there is definitely at an all time low.

My younger self would always be timid and shy when mingling in new crowds, well my current self says “fuck it” a lot. Maybe it’s because I know my time on this earth is limited and there are so many things that I want to do and accomplish before I can’t go anymore and I’m not going to let opportunities slip away.

This past August I was asked to participate in the Alice Kelly Memorial Tournament and I’m so glad I took that leap of faith to make new friends and new memories. Sharing a few pics from the tournament (better late than never) and there’s a new blog post up (link in bio).

Sometimes just a little weekend getaway is all you need 🫶 I recently spent a Monday wondering around Manteo, North Carolina on my own, doing my thing and enjoying every minute of it. I woke up when I wanted to, I got coffee and a bagel from @charis_coffee_co on my time table and slowly enjoyed the two while I strolled the beautiful downtown area, making note of which store I wanted to go into and what art I needed to come home with.

Loving being alone and enjoying time to myself is not something my younger self would have been comfortable with. So happy that I have and that I continue to work through my wounds. I am at a point in my life where I am not only happy being alone but I also only surround myself with people and things that bring me peace and joy.

Everyone should work towards being comfortable and happy in theirselves rather than asking for happiness from others.

When Sharon, from Reel Girls Clothing Co., asked me to be model for her next product launch, I had to ask if she was sure. I literally told her “look now, I’m old and not at all model material” but she said she wanted real girls that love to fish to be her models and so I said “ok, only if you’re sure!” I couldn’t begin to tell you how nervous I was and how hard I tried to talk myself out of it.

Luckily all my friends said I had to do it, even some said I was literally a dumbass if I didn’t do it. So with that motivation, I made myself go and I’m so glad I did!

Not only was it an amazing day filled with lots of laughter but I met some really awesome ladies as well. Added bonuses are that the pictures are awesome and the gear is even better!

The new Latitude Jacket is my favorite piece with its built in thumb holes and finger tip gloves that are built into the sleeves!!! I know this will be on the boat with me all fall!

I was fortunate enough to experience a part of life most people don’t even know about, Commercial Crabbing in Belhaven, North Carolina.

I road along with Steve, and his son, Trent, to a beautiful shallow coastal inlet in northeastern North Carolina. We started the morning at 3 am and didn’t finish the day until about 2:30 pm. It was a long but a good day.

I was fortunate enough to experience a part of life most people don’t even know about, Commercial Crabbing in Belhaven, North Carolina.

I road along with Steve, and his son, Trent, to a beautiful shallow coastal inlet in northeastern North Carolina. We started the morning at 3 am and didn’t finish the day until about 2:30 pm. It was a long but a good day.

One thing my hectic life has been teaching me lately is to actually be happy with myself and where I am at in life. I’m definitely not where I thought I would be but I have worked through a lot of things these past few years and I’m finding a new happiness in myself. Everyday I work to retrain my brain to not to dwell on the negative thoughts and emotions that others’ want me to. Instead I am choosing to focus on the positive things and life’s little moments that make me feel good. Remember life is too short for the bullshit.

We had an epic early morning Wednesday charter out of Wrightsville Beach, NC with @captain_spence_williams from @aunt_bee_sportfishing charter services! Couldn’t have asked for a better time with a great Captain! We learned a lot of took home plenty of meat for the fridge.

Plus we caught a freakin wahoo in a location they aren’t typically seen! Talk about amazing!
