Life tends to get away from us on occasion. That has been me the last few weeks. We have been constantly on the go, we took in a concert in Charlotte, fished some and then I got sidelined for a whole weekend by a stomach bug that was going around the office. That was miserable. As a person who goes and goes, being stuck at home sick and not able to do anything is a real joy killer.
However, the streak of crazy and sick has hopefully been broken! I got an opportunity to go on a charter out of Atlantic Beach organized by Chasin Tails Outdoors with Captain Byron Shultz for Going Bogue Outdoors. We started out trolling for Mahi and Wahoo and we reeled in two Mahis but it quickly became clear that trolling wasn’t going to bring home a lot of meat for the day. We switched it up to bottom fishing and we successfully caught vermilion snappers, a nice gag grouper and plenty of trigger fish. I don’t get many opportunities to go fish out of Atlantic Beach so it was a really nice change to take in that area and go offshore from there. It's definitely a busy little fishing town located right next to Morehead City, which is the meca for North Carolina fishing. I would highly recommend contacting Capt. Shultz for any upcoming fishing trips you want to take out of the Atlantic Beach area!
