Pop and Jigging for Blue Fin Tuna in the OBX

Henry — @henry.gone.fishing — called and said they were heading back to the Outer Banks to pop and jig for bluefin tuna and asked if I wanted to come film again aboard http://www.moanasportfishing.comMoana Sportfishing.
That wasn’t a hard decision.
We first met about this same time last year while I was filming on Moana. We hit it off immediately — long days, lots of laughs, chaos when the fish showed up — and they ended up loving the footage so much they told me when they came back, I was coming back too.
So here I am again.
I’ve been here about five days now hanging with the guys, filming while they chase bluefins the way they’re meant to be chased — throwing lures and working them until something decides to try and kill it. No waiting, no soaking bait… just cast, retrieve, repeat until the ocean explodes.
When it happens it’s instant — one second nothing, the next second a surface detonation and a reel dumping line while everyone scrambles.
If you’ve never seen popping and jigging for bluefin tuna, you really need to check it out over on East Coast Saltwater Living. It’s one of those things photos barely capture — the energy on the boat says the rest.
And I’m glad they called me back for round two.
