Reeling It In: From TikTok Callouts to Tournament Dreams

There are few things better than a great day on the water—sun on your face, salt in the air, laughter between casts, and a rod bent with promise. But lately, those days have meant even more to me. Not just because of the fish we’ve caught, but because of the women I’ve had the privilege to share the deck with—women I never would have met if I hadn’t taken a leap and posted a callout on TikTok and Instagram.
What started as a simple idea—“Who wants to go fishing?”—turned into something powerful. I’ve met so many incredible women through these ladies-only trips. Some had never stepped foot on a boat. Some had always wanted to learn how to fish but never had the opportunity. Others were just looking for a space to belong, where the only expectations were to show up, be open, and have fun. And that’s exactly what we’ve created together.
Each trip has been a reminder that community can be built anywhere—even on the open ocean. Watching women step onto the boat a little nervous, unsure of how the reel works or how to tie a knot, and then watching them step off hours later with confidence and stories to tell? That’s the kind of magic I’ll never get tired of.
But I don’t want to stop here.

I’ve got my eyes set on something bigger—tournaments. Events like Tunas and Tiaras in Ocean City, Maryland, the Poor Girls Open, the KWLA Tournament, and the iconic Alice Kelly Memorial Ladies Only Billfish Tournament in Pirate's Cove. These are more than just competitions—they’re celebrations of strength, skill, and sisterhood. I want to gather a team of passionate, driven women who love fishing and want to take this to the next level.
My mission is to keep building this community of like-minded women who support one another, who want to grow, learn, and take up space in what’s often seen as a male-dominated world. I’ve seen firsthand how stepping on a boat for the first time can unlock a sense of pride, empowerment, and peace—and I want to keep making that happen for as many women as I can.
Whether it’s a calm day trolling for mahi or a fast-paced run for tuna, what makes it unforgettable is the crew beside you—the encouragement, the high fives, the shared joy when someone hooks their first fish. That’s what it’s all about.
