Saltwater Soul: My Love for the Ocean and Sharing It with Others

A great day spent with friends steering my boat.
A great day spent with friends steering my boat.

There’s something sacred about saltwater. The way it kisses your skin, stings your eyes, and heals your soul—it’s a feeling I wish I could bottle up and hand to everyone I meet.

For as long as I can remember, the water has been my church, my therapy, my reset button. And now, more than ever, it’s also become my purpose.

I fell in love with the ocean as a child, but it wasn’t until I started driving my own boat that I truly understood what it meant to belong to the sea. There’s a power in being behind the helm, watching the horizon stretch endlessly before you, the motor humming under your feet like a heartbeat that syncs with your own. It’s peace. It’s freedom. It’s home.

Fishing brought me even deeper into that connection. It teaches patience and presence. It teaches you how to read the subtle language of nature—a swirl in the water, a shift in the wind, the flash of silver just beneath the surface. It's not just about the catch (though I won’t lie, a bent rod and a screaming reel never get old). It’s about the experience. And that’s exactly what I love to share with others.

I’ve made it my mission to expose people to the ocean in a way they’ve never experienced it. For some, it’s their first time seeing the sun rise over open water. For others, it’s their first tuna, their first dolphin sighting, or their first moment of complete silence—just them and the sea. I’ve watched grown men tear up watching a pod of dolphins glide alongside the boat. I’ve watched kids fall in love with the ocean the same way I did, their curiosity blooming with every cast.

I love showing people that the ocean is more than just a vacation backdrop. It’s alive. It’s wild. It demands respect, and when you give it, it gives something back. Every trip out there is different, and that’s the magic of it. No matter how many miles I log on the water, there’s always something new to learn, something new to see, something new to feel.

Whether I’m running the boat, casting a line, volunteering for a tournament, or just watching the sky change colors at sunset, I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. And if I can bring just one person closer to that feeling—to that raw, powerful connection with the ocean—then I’ve done what I was meant to do.

Here’s to salt in our hair, fish stories worth telling, and bringing more souls to the sea.
